Due to a demanding work schedule, multiple award-nominated author and award-winning screenwriter Philip Nutman is only making two convention appearances this year. He will be a guest at
Dragon*Con in Atlanta over the Labor Day weekend (September 3-7), where he will conduct a fiction workshop on creating memorable characters in addition to other appearances. He will also be signing at the
Spooky Empire Horror Weekend (formerly Screamfest) in Orlando, Florida, October 9-11. More details to be announced soon.
In addition to Dragon*Con, he will be conducting a screenwriting workshop, FULL METAL (SCREENWRITING) JACKET: BULLET-PROOF ANSWERS TO TOUGH QUESTIONS at the Decatur Book Festival on Friday, September 4. The event is limited to 25 participants and is free. Check back for further details, which will be available here within a few days.
SCREENWRITING WORKSHOPS/PERSONAL COACHING
Due to public demand following his acclaimed presentation at last year’s Decatur Book Festival, his first sold-out course at
Eagle Eye Bookshop in Decatur, Ga., and subsequent master class and workshops for The
Atlanta Writers’ Club, Philip will be organizing two new courses for the Fall at Eagle Eye (dates to be announced). Furthermore, he is now offering personal writing coaching for a select number of writers. Be it screenwriting or working on a novel, this is an opportunity to work under the guidance of a professional writer with over 25 years experience in film, TV, publishing and print journalism.
Don’t live in Atlanta? Phone/e-mail consultations are available on a limited basis – and the rates are far lower than many self-published, self-proclaimed writers who offer so-called “coaching” are charging. For details, write to

“Phil has a deep knowledge, respect and love for film. From novice to pro, if you have the chance to talk about filmmaking with Phil, take it!"
– Jayson Palmer, screenwriter of CREEPY TALES
and the New York Independent Film Festival winner IDIOTS ARE US (Best Comedy, 2006)
“The best course you will ever sign up for… Phil is an incredible teacher. He is not a textbook teacher, he is the real thing. He's been there, done it and gotten a T-shirt. He will teach you how to polish your writing skills and then can show you how to market your finished product. Phil's classes have given me insight on how to develop character and how to construct a scene to keep the reader's attention. His humor will keep you alert in class, and his energy will inspire you to write late into the night.”
– Barbara Barth, author of the forthcoming THE UNFAITHFUL WIDOW
