ARE YOU READY FOR WET WORK COFFEE?!

Coffee Shop of Horrors will release PHILIP NUTMAN'S WET WORK COFFEE - Coffee That's A Shot To The Head * in October 2009, just in time for those Halloween party hangovers.

Inspired by Nutman's enduringly popular, 1993 bestselling, Bram Stoker Award-nominated novel which has been cited as the detonating book which opened the floodgates for the plethora of zombie novels you can find at your local chain store, WET WORK is a secret recipe combining the subtle nutty taste of Brazilian beans with the full body of rich Colombian coffee--a genuine eye-opener in the morning which will keep you charged throughout the day. (*and every cup is guaranteed "Chock Full O' Nutman!"™).

"It started out as a running joke with the original owner of Coffee Shop of Horrors, but under the new ownership the coffee has become a reality," Nutman said, pouring another mug of this must-have-another-cup brew.

Nutman suggested the mix and decided on the final form for the coffee. "I've had more energy and written more in the past few days than I have in months," he added between sips.

Coffee Shop of Horrors will debut the potent medium dark roast beverage at Spooky Empire's Weekend of Horrors on Friday, October 9, 2009 in Orlando, Florida, and will be available for mail order the following week (although the chance to pre-order will be possible soon—check their site for details).

All coffees produced by the company are roasted in small batches and shipped promptly to ensure customers receive vibrant, fresh beans or blend to stimulate their taste buds.

In addition to the coffee, Nutman and his filmmaking partner, fellow screenwriter Jayson Palmer (CREEPY TALES; IDIOTS ARE US), have written, produced and directed a commercial for the coffee's launch. A homage to early ‘70s exploitation/horror trailers, the short features zombie-killing mayhem, decapitation and a very smart Collie, Max, whom Nutman claims is his agent. "Max said he was tired of taking 10 percent and insisted he make his acting debut," the author explained. The trailer also will have its world premiere at the Florida convention before appearing online. A different, theatrical version is also in the works.

The label was designed and illustrated by acclaimed artist Mark Maddox , and T-shirts featuring the logo will also be available shortly. The striking make-up effects featured in the "trailer" were designed and executed by acclaimed Atlanta-based artist, musician, performer and FX creator Shane Morton, perhaps currently best known as "Ghost-Host with the Most," Professor Morte, who presents and performs the monthly retro Silver Scream Spookshow at The Plaza Theatre in Atlanta. Fellow partner in crime, and co-presenter of the monthly Splatter Cinema screenings at The Plaza, Nick Morgan, guest stars as the "Executive Zombie" in the trailer.

Stay tuned for more details.

CONVENTION APPEARANCES & SCREENWRITING WORKSHOPS

Due to a demanding work schedule, multiple award-nominated author and award-winning screenwriter Philip Nutman is only making two convention appearances this year. He will be a guest at Dragon*Con in Atlanta over the Labor Day weekend (September 3-7), where he will conduct a fiction workshop on creating memorable characters in addition to other appearances. He will also be signing at the Spooky Empire Horror Weekend (formerly Screamfest) in Orlando, Florida, October 9-11. More details to be announced soon.

In addition to Dragon*Con, he will be conducting a screenwriting workshop, FULL METAL (SCREENWRITING) JACKET: BULLET-PROOF ANSWERS TO TOUGH QUESTIONS at the Decatur Book Festival on Friday, September 4. The event is limited to 25 participants and is free. Check back for further details, which will be available here within a few days.

SCREENWRITING WORKSHOPS/PERSONAL COACHING

Due to public demand following his acclaimed presentation at last year’s Decatur Book Festival, his first sold-out course at Eagle Eye Bookshop in Decatur, Ga., and subsequent master class and workshops for The Atlanta Writers’ Club, Philip will be organizing two new courses for the Fall at Eagle Eye (dates to be announced). Furthermore, he is now offering personal writing coaching for a select number of writers. Be it screenwriting or working on a novel, this is an opportunity to work under the guidance of a professional writer with over 25 years experience in film, TV, publishing and print journalism.

Don’t live in Atlanta? Phone/e-mail consultations are available on a limited basis – and the rates are far lower than many self-published, self-proclaimed writers who offer so-called “coaching” are charging. For details, write to philipnutman@gmail.com

“Phil has a deep knowledge, respect and love for film. From novice to pro, if you have the chance to talk about filmmaking with Phil, take it!"
– Jayson Palmer, screenwriter of CREEPY TALES
and the New York Independent Film Festival winner IDIOTS ARE US (Best Comedy, 2006)

“The best course you will ever sign up for… Phil is an incredible teacher. He is not a textbook teacher, he is the real thing. He's been there, done it and gotten a T-shirt. He will teach you how to polish your writing skills and then can show you how to market your finished product. Phil's classes have given me insight on how to develop character and how to construct a scene to keep the reader's attention. His humor will keep you alert in class, and his energy will inspire you to write late into the night.”
– Barbara Barth, author of the forthcoming THE UNFAITHFUL WIDOW
